What We're Working On
Recently we were commissioned to make an oversized framed antique mirror. Our client worked closely with Peter to achieve the dimensions and the finish to suit his space.
The glass itself is 1.5m x 2.6m and weighs almost 60kg, while the final piece will be over 100kg. We silvered and antiqued the glass, and hand-made the backboard and the steel frame.
It’s been somewhat challenging moving around it and moving it around in the workshop, Mike had to tape the edges with yellow tape so that we didn’t walk into it, as it’s edges were wider than our carrier and tricky to see.
The stained backboard was made in 3 sections to hold the finished mirror and frame, making sure it was strong enough to hang the finished piece. Our Subtle Finish logo is branded onto the board. Only genuine Antique Mirror Glass pieces will have this stamp.
We even made the packing case to safely transport this beautiful mirror to it’s new home.
